– The Non-K Skylake overclocking fiasco has been around for quite a while, and I’ve covered the topic in detail via a few videos on the channel. However, in the case of E3v5 Xeons, the potential to overclock has been overshadowed by the fact that these chips are subjected to C232/C236 chipsets (which naturally don’t allow BCLK OC’ing). Needless to say, ASRock has come to the rescue with their Fatal1ty E3v5 Gaming/OC C232 Motherboard! See the link below.

Completely disagree with your prime 95 comments. If you're failing prime you're not stable and your computer will eventually crash on something else.
Will be nice to see if it is possible to fit an Xeon into a laptop after various tweaks for parts inside.

I am biggest Xeon fanboi. But, this doesn't work. Same board, same chip, what cooling are you using? What DDR4? 4.05Ghz @ 1.26V is within thermal limits, but 4.25Ghz @ 1.35V is not, for me. Did you "enable X Boost SKY OC" or not? I got better results without it. Did you disable hyper-threading? Turbo-boost? Thermal throttling? I won't tell you my answers: you got a higher clock, what are yours?!? +Science Studio

Soon I will be bying a new machine and my plan was to build it around 6700k and gtx1070. My question: in 6700 I will be paying for gpu which I won't be using, right? Correct me if I am wrong. So maybe I should build it around some Xeon? If yes – which one?

The main problem of E3 Xeons is that the Speed Step and Turbo technologies are managed in a more aggressive way than the comparable Core CPUs. Highering the BCLK is cool, but have you tried to deactivate the Speed Step, C-states and the other conservative options of the BIOS (I don't know if it's actually possible)

Just got mine a month ago and sadly it doesnt work anymore. Now im stuck with a GTX 1070 and a locked Xeon processor 🙁
would it make sense to go for the E3-1245v5? it's a 40 euro price-difference but according to the passmark list, this one is stock already very close to the 6700k…. CPU mark for the 1245 is 10401 and for the 1230 it's 9623…..
