Unboxing and feature overview of ASUS H81M-E Socket 1150 motherboard for Haswell CPUs. This board supports Haswell CPUs released in 2013 and 2014 (requires UEFI firmware update). It can be used for overclocking any unlocked Haswell CPU. It has official support for low cost Pentium G3258 with unlocked multiplier making it a great choice for single graphics card gaming PC. It has one PCI-E 3.0 slot for graphics cards, two USB 3.0 (plus four USB 2.0 ports) and two SATA 3.0 ports (plus two SATA 2.0 ports). Comes with ASUS monitoring and fan control software for windows.
WARNING! If this board comes with older UEFI that does not support Haswell Refresh CPUs (released in 2014), you will need to update UEFI before installing Haswell Refresh CPU. To update UEFI you will need a Haswell CPU released in 2013 and update MUST be done from Windows OS following instructions on ASUS web site. BEFORE buying this board, MAKE sure it has UEFI with support for Haswell Refresh CPUs or that you will be able to update UEFI yourself.
I installed Intel G3258 on this mb and overclocked it to 4.2 GHz by simply setting multiplier to 42 and voltage to 1.18 V. It runs great with stock cooler. In LinX and Prime95 temps are up to 75 C in a closed PC case and 22 C ambient temperature.

I had this board for my 4670k and it ran fine on stock settings. It's definitely NOT a good motherboard for over clocking. The VRM's get warm. I was only able to achieve 4.2 with added VRM heatsinks and I would still get throttling. Not to mention I also have a CPU liquid cooler. Aside from that, only limited to 16 GB of RAm and no RAID controller.
If you are running a non K series CPU, and don't need onborad RAID, then this motherboard is not bad. I would only recommend a Pentium G series or i3 at the most. i5 and i7 owners, look at Z boards instead.
Hi. Can I overclock this motherboard with an Intel G4560 with a GTX 1050 ti?
can i use my i7 4770 4th gen cpu on this MOBO? please reply thank you
Hello, I need your help.

Can I use ASUS TURBO-GTX1060-6G 6GB Graphics Card on this motherboard ??
Please help me.
Can i connrct the Usb 3.0 on the case to this motherboard?

Hi. I am looking for a new motherboard for my computer. The repair shop I use have suggested this one you are showing here, however I think it may be a little too cheep, what is the next one up the ladder that would be slightly better ? Thanks
does I have a wifi chip slot
This motherboard features an H81 Express Chipset, so it doesn't support a PCI-E 3.0 interface. It "only" has PCI-E 2.0
Not that it would make any perceivable difference in practice, (not even with a Titan/Fury X) but just to avoid confusion.
on page ASUS says it has (PCI Express 2.0) you can use a video card pci express 3.0? example gtx 750 gtx 750 ti 1GB or 2GB standard.
I need advice for my PC.
I have a H81M-E Mobo (it's tiny), an i3-4160 3.60 GHz CPU, a GeForce GT 730 GPU and 8 GBs of Ram running on Windows 7. The problem I have is that obviously this is a cheap build and while it serves pretty decently for most games it runs games like The Witcher 2 or 3 really badly. I don't have much computer knowledge but I'm assuming I could upgrade my GPU to whatever is available (if anything else will fit on such a small mobo) and my CPU to an i5 or i7 that is compatible with LGA 1150 (although I've been told newer CPUs wont run well on a low end mobo). Would it be wiser to upgrade those components on my current mother board and just build a new PC when the time comes (I'm worried parts won't be compatible if I replace the CPU and GPU but it would be easier for me) or buy a better motherboard and use whatever parts from my current build now and just buy the ones necessary (Will be a pain in the ass but probably better to have a better mobo in the long run)? I'm tight for cash at the moment so I'll have to be patient for either option but option 1 would be cheaper since I won't have to buy a new mobo, case, CPU and GPU all at once.
I need help. i already bought g3258 i am planning to have an r9 390 vc. would it work smoothly w/o bottleneck? would 650w would do for the powersupply? do i need a fan when i oc it to 4.4? thanks
can i have a gtx 960 with a asus h81m-plus, intel pentnium g3258, and a 550psu? and can overclock the g3258 on the h81m-plus?
I have an Intel Core i3 4330 3.50 GHz processor with this motherboard. I was wondering if I can upgrade to an i7? If so, can someone send me a link to a preferred i7 processor?
Edit: Also, what would be a preferred power supply? I currently have a 430w.
hi, i have also asus h81m-e motherboard, but i dont have ''fan control'' and ''Ai tweaker'' in the bios ?
do you know a solution?
How many fan connections are there in total?
Does this motherboard still work?
I have a Sabertooth z97 mk1 with a g3258 as a place holder until I get a better cpu. I have little knowledge over clocking (I did a little on an AMD cpu/ msi mobo) I was wondering what it was I needed to change to get it to OC to 4.0ghz I have seen people with it at 4.2 with stock cooler I just want 4.0 however I am unfamiliar with Asus new uefi bios
What motherboard should I get if I'm planning to get a i5 4690k? Needs to be cheap! Idk what board to get. Not planning to OC soon but might in the future
I can only get the ASUS H81M-plus mainboard and wonder if the same goes for it.
I think about buying it together with a i5-4690k.
I have a GeForce 970GTX and wonder wether it will work out good.
would the MSI Z87-G43 be a safer bet ?
I've never overclocked and don't feel the need to yet but in the future I want to have the option though!
EDIT: I've read multiple times that Intel won't allow the OC on any chip set that is not Z, and they updated their firmware to disable it (source were from 2013), did they revert the changes ?
Because it works for you, or do i need like an older bios vers. pre fix or something like that ? x)
sorry for all the questions
I have this motherboard and would like to overclock it to 4.0ghz do you know of anywhere that you can download overclocking profiles or an overclocking guide?
Can you put in a NVIDIA geforce GTX 750 ti?
does this definitely have PCI-E 3.0 it doesn't specify if 2 or 3 on the asus website cant find answer anywhere
Hey man! I'm looking at a build with this Motherboard and the Pentium G3258. Does the board come with the correct Bios or do I have to update it? If so how to I do this as I don't know how. Thanks
i thought the only chipset that supported overclocking was Z87-Z97 and H series and below don't offfer oc
amazing review!! thank you so much
Is there a way to MAke a Video on how to OverClock the MotherBoard and cpu Step by Step ? This is where im Stuck at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMYGrAOF64s
Should I get this motherboard or MSI h81m – p33
