I was surprised that Asus wasn’t able to pack a higher quality display into the computer at this price point. The 14″ TN display is running at 1080p but loses image quality quickly if not viewed directly on center.
The biggest problem we had on this one was how often it crashed when we were stressing the hardware during our gaming tests and benchmarks. While these machines are not designed specifically for gaming we were surprised how unstable it was even with games that run fine on competing computers with the same hardware.
In a few days we’ll look at a similar computer from Acer that has a better build quality along with an IPS display that costs about $40 less.

This is my laptop and overall, it’s a piece I of sh-
Can you play Roblox on it
It's a piece of shit- expect continuous issues
Can this laptop run sony vegas ?
Looking at a cheap ebaying laptop and seen this refurb for £160 and this review has convinced me to get it
In Israel it costs 300$
Can this run fortnite?
I have a Dell Inspiron 7577 with a gtx 1060 and an i7 7700hq but going off to college I want to get a cheaper laptop around 500$ or so that has better battery life, still a 1080p screen and a solid keyboard for note taking and the like. This seems very appealing for what I'll use. 128gb of storage will be fine because I'll either just use the cloud or a thumb drive / external hard drive for my data and yeah its light and thin and cheap with long battery life lol. I love my inspiron but it's battery life is like 3.5 hours the way I use it and it's pretty thicc/heafty
What about photoshop and video editing?
It maxes out at 60FPS, it wont go any faster, and a Windows 8.1 Phone is better at browsing the internet because it becomes extremely laggy after about 4 months of using it.
Can I play games like GTA5 OR 4
I'm sold
What about the version with 64gb and Celeron 3350 1.1ghz version? It is also the same model for this laptop, but costs $259, what are the thoughts on that?
Hello friend can I use that PC to edit video?
Can u do photoshop and illustrator on pentium n4200? Thank u
so how do you think csgo would run on this machine?
Is the ram upgradable?
I found over laps that have better specs than this. But I need lightweight and battery more than anything. Should I compromise speed and storage for that ?I'm not gamer and no heavy browsing/ video editing. I just want it for ecommerce use. I usually have to 2 windows and 10 tabs on each(and music streaming in the back) and maybe photo editor or photoshop? I feel like, at this day, any laptop should be able to handle that??? Or my demands requiere for a better laptop ?
So this is the new E403SA! So nice! im glad now it has fingerprint reader!
i have mincraft on my computer
Will the new windows mixed reality VR headsets work with this?????????
Please review the E203NAH model.
Hi Lon! You have to be my favorite reviewer. No bs, to the point and reviewing from multiple perspectives. Keep up the good work mate!
This seems over priced, emmc storage at this price point is a crime.
i watched an ad for you lon….
It would be cool to see some real world performance observations about much difference there really is between a 128 Gb SSD vs. eMMC. I know the benchmark tools show a big difference, but I wonder how that translates to human perceivable "lagginess" in these lower end machines
Looks like some of this review is pre-recorded – guessing via you new helper and you are just switching input while you are talking… I can see how that would save you a ton of prep time and allow you get through reviews much more efficiently.
it should be against the law to sell laptops with emmc
Lon, go to the dollar store and get one those ventilated rubberized rolls they use to line cabinets to keep it from sliding.
thnak you ALWAYS for the 4K test 🙂
Ahhh look at all those ports
Shame reviewers dont install Ubuntu mate or Gallium OS onto these devices for a stable rocksolid os
Can you replace RAM and Battery like the "traditional" laptops
Is this capable for Photoshop?
Looking for a 2 in 1 with Windows Ink. Anything around the$500 range worth taking a look at? Must be 14" screen minimum for elderly eyes, if you could keep that in consideration! Always love your reviews on laptops and 2 in 1 devices, both Windows and Chrome. Keep up the great work.
Long can you do a cheap 2 in 1 review.
I wish Asus would make a new chromebox that can run android apps.
Man does this laptop look quite appealing, a 1080p screen with a good a battery, thin and light, and not that expensive.
That’s a great deal if you ask me.
So it almost didn't make the cut? lol Question regarding heat. I use an Asus Core M fanless flipbook. But I typically stick a small book under the back to allow air to pass through the bottom of laptop. If you did that for this Vivobook do you think it was help prevent thermal throttling? Not to mention cheap Ikea table scratching?
"we" did not get close to that on "our" benchmark? You hired help?
Can you please do a review of Acer aspire e5-523-90qw amd a9 laptop?
I like your budget end videos.
Like, if you hit like before watching.
Can you do the Lenovo n24 2 in 1?
